The framing of a basic gable roof is based on a right-angle triangle, and the various roof framing components fit the triangle. the rise, or height of the roof at its peak, is the altitude of the triangle; the run, or half the building span, is the base of the triangle; and the line length, measurement from the roof peak to the building wall, is the hypotenuse.. Now that the walls are rigid from the structural sheathing we're going to tackle the framing the roof. we're going to use 2x8 lumber to make the roof frame. you'll see how a speed square and hand. Level the ground (if necessary) and install deck piers along a grid to support the shed. the piers will allow you to string support beams beneath the floor of the shed. in the example design, the piers are spaced 6 feet (1.8 m) apart in one direction and 4 feet (1.2 m) apart in the other for a total grid area of 12 x 8 feet..
